I pressed the button!

Like many people who found those first few quiet weeks a struggle, I’ve settled into my own routine. I even started to sew stuff again! Now I’m looking forward to getting back to seeing actual people, at a distance anyway. I’ve missed my classes and as long as I can do so safely I relish the chance to teach again. The occasional zoom has been lovely but it’s not the same as being there. Bouncing ideas off each other and having the random conversations of any class. If you’ve been to my classes you’ll know just how random they can be.

As I start to get my head around the technicalities I’m hoping to bring you a few online courses here too. Thank the goodness for tech buddies. This will hopefully help you along your sewing journey and give you a chance to take a course with me if you can’t get to one in person. I don’t want to rush them, they need to be right, but I do want them to be with you shortly.

The first will be a deep dive into zips. By all means send me your horror stories and your hurdles. As I bring it all together I can make sure I’m covering what you really need to know. I’m certain that zips are the nemisis of many people so my hope is that is will sooth the brow of any zip haters. This is all quite a learning curve for me so believe me when I say learning is a journey. None of us get it perfect the first time. It’s what I told myself after spending a couple of days in video mode to find it wasn’t coming up as well as it should. A change of fabric and thread and we’ll be back in action. If you’d like to see something specific then do let me know. The idea is that you get what you need. Something useful.

As I get through it I’ll also be adding info to the resources section to the website. This could be anything from which needle to choose for your project to the recipe used for the class cake. I know cake is as important to us stitchers as the making itself. There may be the odd embroidery spot thrown in as I can’t stay away from it for long but this is first and foremost for sewing. I’ll share my makes on the blog and as I come across something that sparks my interest I’ll share it with you. I’m going to try not to get too random. There’s my personal instagram for that.

I’ll be selling the pattern weights that have been to class a few times in the shop. There are loads to choose from and I will have a limited range but if you want something specific I’m happy to try and source them for you. As I collate a few pictures there will also be a student gallery. A snippet of what has been made within and out of class with a short note to go alongside. If you’ve been to one of my classes and would like your make to be included then let me know. I’d love to show the versatility and range of student work.

Most of all I hope this fresh website can bring you a little stitchy joy and helpful tips. Stay tuned to see what’s next and if you want to see something in-particular, let me know. I’m here to help on your journey. x
